THE WORLD RACES TO CLAIM A NEW CONTINENT... A phenomenon known as crustal displacement shifts the Earth's crust, repositioning continents and causing countless deaths. In the wake of the global catastrophe, the world struggles to take care of its displaced billions. But Antarctica, freshly thawed and blooming, has emerged as a new hope. Rather than wage a world war no nation can endure, the leading nations devise a competition, a race to the center of Antarctica, with the three victors dividing the continent. It is within this race that Mirabelle Whitney, one of the few surviving experts on the continent, grouped with an American special forces unit, finds herself. But the dangers awaiting the team are far worse than feared; beyond the sour history of a torn family, beyond the nefarious intentions of their human enemies, beyond the ancient creatures reborn through anhydrobiosis--there are the Nephilim. ...ONLY TO FIND IT ALREADY TAKEN. ORIGINS EDITION: Re-edited and repackaged, this new edition of Antarktos Rising is superior to all that came before. Be sure to look for Robinson's other Origins Editions, which include re-releases of his first five novels.… (más)

Move over Jurassic Park, a new kid is in town. Antarctica is blooming and places that previously had seasons are frozen solid. There are only a few states remaining and the new capital is Dallas, Texas. Of course the survivors want land in the new Continent of Antarctica so teams are formed to claim the land. The first three that reached the finish line would split the land three ways. Unknown to them was that something already lived there and wasn't thrilled about sharing. There was parts of the plot that I just couldn't figure out how they were possible - but I guess that's what makes a story fun. Just don't think about it too much. ( )

Another great Robinson novel that doesn't disappoint. I was surprised that the story carried with it a Christian theme. I applaud Robinson for portraying the Christian faith in a positive light when many secular books these days tend to bash Christians. I've always been intrigued by the mysterious history of the Nephilim and enjoyed Robinson's various theories about them. This is a great story full of adventure, conspiracy, and mystery. Definitely a bit far fetched, but it wouldn't be a classic Robinson novel if it weren't. ( )

I haven’t read many adventure stories since I was in school but I accidently purchased this book thinking it was another book I had been looking for, sometimes this is how you find exciting new authors that you would not normally read. This book is badly written, poorly edited (spelling mistakes) and bordering on being racist. All Arabs are bomb toting terrorists and all Chinese will sacrifice themselves (and sons) for their communist government but luckily the good Christian Americans (and one Christian Englishman) come along to convert everyone and save the day. Every chapter had to finish with a ‘B’ grade move line and science is extraordinarily bad (there is sedimentary rocks on top of the Himalayas therefore the bible must be correct about the flood). I’m not an avid reviewer of books but I think people should be warned not to waste their time with this one. On the bright side it has made me want to read other adventure stories to see if the standard of writing is all this bad or this is just an exception. ( )

The earth's crust shifts causing repositioning of the continents, Large scale flooding, extreme cold and heat. Antarctica thaws and becomes a lush paradise. Teams from different countries race to the center to claim their 1/3 of this tropical wonder, not knowing of the ancient danger residing within. A detailed storyline, and unexpected twists makes this novel pure Jeremy Robinson. A Quote by Stel Pavlou about this book says it all: "An awesome journey into the beating heart of a legend" ( )
