This story introduces him and his idiosyncrasies. He shares many of the characteristics of Doolittle's Tom Bethany. The story itself wasn't my favorite but I think this Streeter guy has some better stories in his future and I plan to keep an eye out for his adventures. ( ) I read more "lone detective" books than is probably good for me and this Streeter guy does not excite my interest. He has none of the classiness of my favorite gumshoes and I find it hard to write an enthusiastic review. This is the first Streeter thriller and Mr. Stone has included lots of stage-setting talk and detail that could really have been left out. Wordiness is my main criticism, I guess. I received "Low End of Nowhere: A Streeter Thriller" by Michael Stone (Brash) through NetGalley.com. It was originally published in 1997 by Penguin. I didn't enjoy it. It's a seedy plot, sure, and I won't deny that sex and violence abound, but I didn't get the dramatic feeling from the main character that I've gotten from the classic hard-boileds; he just felt sad or disappointed, mostly. The bad guys were certainly creepy enough that I don't want to read more about similar. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
