Summary: The Story of Sacagawea is one of my favorites. Sacagawea is a young Shoshoni woman who has been asked to be a guide for explorers, Lewis and Clark. Because she was so familiar with the land, they asked her where there was new land to be discovered. She joined their expedition to discover new territories.
Personal Reaction: Of course every little Indian girl wanted to be Sacagawea growing. She was filled with such adventure and curiosity. I am not a fan of history but this is one of my favorite expeditions that I learned about in school.
Classroom Extension Ideas: 1.) Have the students draw out their own map for the expedition
2.) I would have the students make a list of provisions and describe what their adventure would be like.
