Cross-Country is an anthology of Australian verse. It presents a coherent and stimulating selection that is representative of the range of achievement in Australian poetry from the early years to the present. Part One features the work of 19 major Australian poets-there is enough material here to allow for a detailed, individual study of each poet or comparative studies of several poets. Part Two consists of a collection of individual poems illustrating the range and diversity of Australian poetry, from Adam Lindsay Gordon's `The Sick Stockrider' to Fay Zwicky's `Kaddish'.
