Uncle Daddy imparts many themes: parental separation, surrogate fathers, single mothers, and eventually, forgiveness. The story also touches upon drug abuse and the affect it has on people’s lives. Uncle Daddy is realistic fiction that touches on several contemporary themes. The plot tells a good story and the action takes off when Uncle Daddy gets ill and Rivers’ Dad offers to help remodel the garage. This project brings everyone together working as a team and it develops character growth of Rivers, his Mom, and especially his Dad. Uncle Daddy remains the stability and rock in everyone’s lives.
