A great addition to an author's study on Kevin Henkes. Second-graders really enjoyed this read-aloud. ( )

Chester and Wilson share the exact same way of doing things until Lilly moves into the neighborhood and shows them new ways.

Chester and Wilson are best friends. They have their own way of doing things and are were almost exactly alike. A new girl named Lily moves into the neighborhood. Lily had her own way of doing things too and Chester and Wilson did not like it. They did not want anything to do with her. One day Chester and Wilson were being bullied, Lily saved them. They were so thankful they decided to be her friend. They realized they had a lot more in common than they originally thought and also taught each other lots of new things. I really enjoyed this book. I think this teaches children that anyone can be friends, even if you are different. Also not to judge people too quickly. The illustrations were equally s adorable as the story itself. ( )

Chester’s Way

This is a great story about friendship that should definitely be in a classroom library! Chester and Wilson were such great friends, and weren’t open to making friends with Lilly, until one day Lilly helped them in a situation, and they realized Lilly wasn’t so bad after all! She encouraged Chester and Wilson try new things, too. Making new friends for young students isn’t always easy, but this book is very encouraging. This book is also on Storyline Online with an ASL video included, which is great for all learners in the classroom.

It was a cute story about friendship. Chester and Wilson the mice were best friends. They couldn't be separated until Lily moved into their neighborhood. They did not want to play with her until she saved their lives from the older boys. She was invited over after. Their friendship grew into something great, even though they did not want to accept her into the group. They noticed how great she was and they had to be friends with her. then another mouse moved into the neighborhood and the book ends. Hopefully there are continued books. ( )
