The fourth re-release in NewSouth's series bringing back into print all of Koning's fiction, The Petersburg-Cannes Express is the story of Anna and Andrew, two early Socialist revolutionaries riding a train across Europe in the year 1900, attempting to catch a sly former Secret Police official. The novel is a picture of the minds of true idealists, whose attempts at violence or covert action are layered with their hearty ideas, making the tasks difficult for themselves. Equal partners in a task that tests their relationships as lovers and as co-conspirators, Anna and Andrew must employ every tool that they have, especially their wits.
