Robert Service had a gift of telling a story about the cold cold North. I usually reread every other year & reacquaint myself. ( ) This book is a collection of poems by Robert Service from the early 1900s about life in the Yukon. The book includes poems such as "The Creation of Sam McGee" and "Dangerous Dan McGrew." The poems can be a little salty for young children but the word choice by the author beautifully portrays the Gold rush experience in the Yukon Territories and the frigid weather. The book contains photos of the prospectors, the gold rush women, the dog teams and the communities at the time. This book accurately represents life in the time of the Gold rush. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
This new and revised edition of poems about the men and women of the North features the most loved ballads by Robert Service, and is illustrated with lively art by Marilen Van Nimwegen. While living in Whitehorse, Robert Service wrote The Cremation of Sam McGee, and other well-known poems. He wrote and published into his mid-eighties. He was quoted as saying, I just go for a walk and come back with a poem in my pocket. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
