Bonanza Banquets is a set of 12 facsimile menus for banquets served in San Francisco between 1850 and 1907. Each menu is accompanied by commentary by such writers as Joseph Henry Jackson, Oscar Lewis, Lucius Beebe and M.F.K. Fisher. Jackson is also the editor of the series. M.F.K. Fisher's selection is menu # 8, "Commentary On A Banquet For The Grand Commandery Of The California Knights Templar At The Occidental Hotel On Tuesday, October 18, 1964" The entire series was gathered in this volume and bound in quarter leather by a former archivist at the University of California, Riverside named Clifford Wurfel. His initials and the date bound, 1977, are found on the back cover. The book is about 6 1/2" by 10 1/4". This is a one-of-a-kind volume. Series of 12 keepsakes in a limited edition of 850 printed by Ward Ritchie. Each keepsake is a finely-printed facsimile menu of a historical California menu accompanied by contemporary commentary. M.F.K. Fisher's contribution is a commentary on the menu for a "Banquet for the Grand Commandery of the California Knights Templar" held at the Occidental Hotel in 1864. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
