I laid my hands on this piece of escapism in 1978, in a decaying paperback which was on its last legs, and was I think, destroyed in the reading. But it was okay, though not rising to the iconic status of "Beau Geste". The POV character is Maj. Beaujolais of the Affair at Fort Zindeneuf, and many of the familiar characters who are not Geste brothers make an appearance. Beaujolais is more than a simple officer, and conducts very hush-hush missions while conducting his visible military life. In this book he manages to encounter the love of his life while saving the interests of France in the Sahara, combat an agent provocateur successfully, and find a good sinecure for the American survivors of Fort Zindeneuf. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

My surprise was to discover inside more pictures of this now lost work of art by P.C. Wren. Only the trailer of the movie produced directed by John Waters and produced by Adolph Zukor and Jesse L. Lasky survived. The legends of the pictures are noticeable and reflects Edith Maude Hull's legacy of r'omantic Saharan sands as seen by British writers; some were probably used as stills in the chain of theaters owned by Paramount Pictures Co.:
- "Beau Sabreur," disguised as an Arab, sets out for the great oasis"
- "Becque (William Powell) influences the Arabs to attack the French""
- "The French Garrison at Zaguig is wiped out "
- "Henri saves Mary from Arab Marauders"'
- "Henri Mary and Maudie escape from the tribesmen"
- 'Sheik El Hamel advances are rejected by Mary" ( )
