I loved the art in this historical fiction picture book, which used the style of silent movies to tell the story of an immigrant family. Silent Movie is about a family who sets forth to come to America. Papa leaves first the Gustave and Mama set sail. They can not find Papa once they arrive and spend all of their money and are left with no choice but to find work. When Gustave is seen on the street handling a thief who was trying to rob him, he is recruited to be in a movie and is so good at acting was offered a large sum of money to continue. The family is now back together and are living the American Dream. This book can connect to many immigrants who had a hard time with the transition to America while finding a job that paid enough for their family to survive. I really love how Mordan uses the effects of a silent movie as the illustrations of the book. When looking at the pictures, they are an extension of the story that you do not get through just reading the text. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
