I am a very empathetic person and this book was very touching. It explains what a foster child might go through when they are bounced from family to family all of their lives. The book is divided into chapters;titled New Mom, First Christmas, Family and A Visit to Court, to address each situation. This is for young readers, probably secondary elementary.
In a classroom, I would have the kids read this book and we could discuss each chapter. I would have the students divide into groups and write about ideas or suggestions for adjusting to a new family and/or school. I think it would be good for students to empathize with a new kid or what they might be dealing with outside of school. ( )
