Description: Out in a meadow, a little girl just wants to play, but the animals keep running away. Then, she sits still by the pond, and they all come back to her. Teaching patience and gentleness this classic story is wonderful for children of all ages.

Oh sweet - too bad this kind of childlike art doesn't appeal to the modern reader. But I love the story: a little girl goes out to the woods and approaches many different animals who respectively climb a tree, jump into the pond, slither into a hole... until she sits very still and they all come and check her out, which she claims is them playing with her. (
