This book was very informational to me, and I learned a lot about Benjamin Franklin. This biography touched on some of his many talents and accomplishments in his life. Ben Franklin is most well known for inventing the lightening rod and bifocal glasses, the only things I knew about him. He was also responsible for helping create businesses like the fire department, the post office, and the printing press. He was also well known for his handwriting in the Constitution and for helping create the American Government. This is another perfect book to incorporate into a social studies lesson for children. This book is easy, straightforward and very educational for students who are learning about Benjamin Franklin. ( ) This biography on Benjamin Franklin highlights on many of his talents. Benjamin Franklin went far in life during the time he was on this Earth. He took care of many things, and got his work done. He was a big influence in writing the Constitution. This book is told in chapter form, but is easy for a child to read. I would read this to my class during social studies when learning about him because it is full of great information. This "Time for Kids - Biographies" collection is amazing. I've read 5 of them and every single one was so interesting. You can get a lot of new facts about important people in history but in a simple and playful way. Children would not even notice that they are broadening their common knowledge by reading these books. Highly recommendable for reading non-fiction! Benjamin Franklin a Man of Many Talents by Time for Kids is a great beginning biography for a young child. Kids will be attracted to the bold colorful pictures liberally spewed throughout the pages of the book. There is a Table of Contents to guide the emergent reader. The chapter titles are prominently featured at the beginning of each chapter in large colorful letters meant to attract and capture the interests of the young reader. Interspersed throughout the book are sections containing additional information that children will find interesting. There are sections titled Fast Facts, The Thirteen Colonies, Ben said It!, Mystery Person, and Ben’s Birdbrained Idea. The author gives important information about the life of Ben Franklin and includes enough details without overwhelming the reader. The information itself is interspersed with colorful pictures so that the reader is sucked into the story before he/she knows it. It is a chapter book so children will feel that they have accomplished a feat upon completion of the story. The book includes an interview with the author titled Talking About Franklin and ends with a timeline titled, Benjamin Franklin’s Key Dates.
