At Amazon, I've found two more books authored by the D'Aulaires that I read as a child. This small book on Ben Franklin contains a brief biography (with due attention to his childhood) coupled with charming, if old-fashioned, illustrations. In this regard, it is like the author's books on Washington, Lincoln, and Buffalo Bill. I see from the text excerpts visible via the "Look Inside" feature that the perspective is as old-fashioned as you'd expect from a book written in 1950. How interesting that this work is still available for children to read.... ( )
