I really liked this book because it was something different that I have not read by her before. This book is about Sherman Crunchley and how all the men in his family have been chief of the police force for years and years. However, Sherman did not want to be chief but did not know how to tell his dad. In the end everything worked out. I think this is a great book for kids to read because it teaches them to stand up for what they want to do. I also like this book because since it is one of her longer books, The upper kids who are learning to read can really value from this book. ( ) I really like this book for a couple reasons. First the illustrations in the book were great. They were colorful and engaging and helped tell the story. The emotions that were on Sherman’s face in some of the pictures helped show the reader how Sherman was feeling. I also liked the characters in the story. Even though Sherman was a dog, he had character traits that most people could relate to. For example, he didn’t want to disappoint his father by telling him that he didn’t want to be a police officer. He had a hard time saying no to people because he didn’t want to make them upset. “He ended up doing all the boring paperwork in the office because he was the only one who never said no to the sergeant.” The main idea of this story is that it is important to stand up for yourself. When you have confidence in yourself you can do something you love to do instead of something that you are doing because it is expected of you. Like Sherman who opened his own hat shop when he finally told his father he didn’t want to be a police chief. Sherman Crunchley is too nice, which makes his job as a police officer hard. When he is expected to follow in the footsteps of his father and become chief of police, Sherman musters up the courage and creativity to tell his father “no” by following his passion and doing something he really enjoys, which is making hats. This booked was co-authored by Nate Evans. Evans and Numeroff were sending the positive message to always stay true to oneself, and to also follow your passion. Sherman Crunchley is a story about a dog named Sherman who is in line to be chief of police in his town. Everyone in his family has been chief of police. Sherman doesn't know how to say no to people, so he goes through a series of events trying to help himself, like going to a hypnotist and buying a video on how to say no. Sherman loves making hats, so he finds a way to tell his dad that he doesn't want to be chief of police at his party, by spelling it out on the tops of hats. Sherman's dad says that he didn't really want to retire either, so the situation works out and Sherman ends up opening a hat business instead. Following the tradition of the Crunchley dog family, Sherman is expected to succeed his father as Biscuit City's Chief of Police, but the only thing he likes about being a police officer is the hat he wears. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
