A very confusing book; it's not clear who is doing the narrating and people have aliases. It never mentions the whole point of the investigation, which is mentioned only in the publisher's promo as "a treaty signed under duress by General Sherman, which effectively gives all of the Americas back to the Indians". In fact, we are led to believe the investigation is about finding who is killing white tourists.
The use of psychedelics is involved (peyote and cowdrops mentioned), and the trippy nature of most of this book may be related to that. In this way, it reminds me of Young Bear's "Black Eagle Child: The Facepaint Narratives" where peyote is also used. ( )
