I would use this book in a 5th grade class and teach them about some of e major bones in their body. This could open up a great discussion about any bones they might have broken in their lives. I could have them cut out a skeleton Andy label the main parts we talked about.

This book could be used as a read aloud for the lower grade levels such as first, second and third grade because they could use additional assistance with labeling and describing the human body. The older grade levels such as fourth and fifth grade could use this book to assist with their literary devices because this book holds many similes and they are more likely to understand the book better than the lower grade levels.

I would use this book as a read aloud in second or third grade to teach comparing. I would read the book aloud, mostly because i think read alouds offer better engagement strategies. After reading, I would ask the students to choose objects or experiences in their lives and make comparisons with other things that yield the same experiences, senses or feelings. I could also use this book in fifth grade as an intro to the parts and bones in the body. I would have the students read this individually and then talk with neighbors about what they read.

The Skeleton Inside You can be used for primary grades as a read aloud or an independent read for first, second or third grade. The book can be used as read aloud because there are many things that it can teach. The book takes the complex idea of a skeleton and makes it simple for children to understand. It can be used as an independent read for second and third grade because it is at their reading level and it makes the concept easy enough for them to understand while they are reading. This book can be used to teach the skeleton and identification of the main idea for children in primary. It can be used to teach similes for third grade because there are many similes used to help describe the skeleton. This book is relatable to the student's experiences.

I would use this for a 1st or 2nd grade class because it breaks down the skeleton in a very simple way that would not be appealing for older students. This would be a good book for a first grade class to do as a read aloud because it makes good real life connections and comparisons to explains the skeletal system. It provides good illustrations and examples for the students to get a better understanding of the topic. It would be a good book to do a lesson on healthy choices with a cause and effect lesson because it also includes how certain choices affect your bones.
