Cabbages and Kings is somewhere between a novel and a group of short stories about the same place. The first chapters do build on each other, and would not be easy to read separately, but as the book progresses the connections become thinner and thinner until they are more separate stories, but still linked.

The other two books are straight short stories. They are all clever, with clever twists at the end, but seem to be too clever. After a while you start guessing what the clever twist will be, and it is usually fairly easy to guess. ( )
