A TOUR OF HELL In this second installment of horror-master Edward Lee's critically acclaimed INFERNAL series, join hybrid demons, zombie prostitutes, and Fallen Angels as they journey through the smoking, blood- and-gut splattered streets of the Mephistopolis-Lucifer's eternal city of the damned. A city...in Hell. That's what Hell is now, an endless metropolis spiring with black skyscrapers, raging in eternal horror. The moon is black and the sky is the color of blood. Screams rip down streets and through alleys, carried by malodorous winds. The people of this place trudge the sidewalks back and forth, to home, to work, to stores, etc., just as they do in any city. There's only one difference. In THIS city, the people are all dead. Now, two normal living humans, humans just like you, have discovered the most time-held occult secret. They have the ability to enter this city of the damned, but with powers greater than even a Fallen Angel. They're angels themselves now-infernal angels. One means to foil the most monstrous plot ever devised, the other means to set it into action and bring all the evil of Hell to the Living Earth. Join them on their journey. Join them in the guts of the City Infernal... WELCOME BACK...TO HELL… (más)

Not nearly as likeable as the previous book.

Way too much opening exposition, about the first 10% was straight lifted from the previous book. Also, I was really disappointed in the fact that whatever HFN that the previous book left us with was completly obliterated in this one. Meaning, whatever good that the previous book ended with, was shot to hell in this one.

I got a bit tired of the main heroine character always questioning things and not just accepting what she was being told, even though she had ample time and explainations to understand. ( )

I was definitely grossed out by this one. Not really scarey though. Kind of creepy. I was interested enough to want to read it all, but found the writing difficult to follow in some spots. Dialogue was sometimes sketchy.
I'm impressed by the darkness of Lee's imagination. I will definitely read more of his work. I wondered where the line for gore was drawn, if there is one he certainly takes no notice of it. What did surprise me was the happy ending. Didn't see that coming. ( )

Of the infernal books, this is the best one. The imagery is awesome, but it is in all of the books. The plot is a lot stronger than the other two. The parts that are told from the POV of the antagonists are the best parts, but the parts told from cassies POV are really good to. The thing i liked the most was the stories of the random people in hell who end up dieing at the end of their chapters. ( )
