The Humble Bundle copy of The Last Unicorn included the "sort-of" sequel, Two Hearts, set in the same universe, a few decades later, and using some of the same characters. I possibly like this one even better than the original. Despite the fact that it's a short story, it features a possibly more interesting, albeit also a more traditional plot. A village in what is now King Lir's kingdom has a griffin living nearby. Which means missing children, naturally. Which means that one day our heroine's best friend is taken by the beast, naturally. Which, naturally, means that our heroine must do something about it. Naturally. The fact that our nearly 10-year-old heroine called Sooz is the narrator relieves some of the feeling of distance from the original, and besides, she's quite interesting. The whole thing is not quite as funny, though some comedic intermezzos do find their place, and I will happily trade that for a more engaging story, anyways. The people who waited 35 years for this sequel might almost consider it worth it. Although the unicorns are rare, so I hope the author doesn't go overboard now. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

EDIT 2013/08/23
AFTER READING "The Last Unicorn"
I have more appreciation of this story now. It add an ending full of sorrow and a greater depth to the story. ( )
