Sharpie is the biography of an early barnstorming pilot who became one of the first women to ferry US Army Air Force fighters during World War II. It is the life story of a woman who gave her life for her country. Cleared to taxi from the Navy's long hangar on the north side of the field, Evelyn released the parking brake. The idling props eased the P-38 ahead. An Army guard from the nearby New Cumberland Air Depot held both hands overhead, motioning her forward. Then, raising his left arm over his head, and with the right arm extended at shoulder height, he pointed the way to the taxi-strip. Evelyn advanced the right throttle, swinging the plane to the left. The pretty, young woman gave a "thumbs up " and her P-38, with the eerie whine of its superchargers, taxied by. The soldier snapped to attention and saluted. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
