This historical non-fiction book tells the stories of settlers moving West and making new lives for themselves on the frontier. I like this book because it focuses on frontier life from children's perspectives and it contains real pictures with dated captions. This would be a good book for a 2-4 grade classroom to accompany a unit on settlers moving West. "Children of the Frontier" is one book in a series I own called Pictures of the American past. It uses photographs to help help move the topic alone. It discusses the time when people began moving to the west due to the cheapness of the land. It discusses the housing used there, the types of homes they lived in, the chores to be done, and schooling. It is an informative book, but leaves you wanting more. It does have a list of resources that delve further into the American Frontier. I would use this book into a 4-6 grade classroom to open the discussion on the frontier and catch the students' interest. The photographs would really draw the children in. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
