Teen hormones aside, the book never quite explains my biggest question about Vadim; why someone like Vadim was able to attract some of the most beautiful women in the world. Even now, when I know far more about the world than I did then, I'm still mystified by it.
Anyway, Vadim happily discusses his conquests and also drops some trivia (he claims it was he who coined the word "discotheque") and some on set anecdotes, such as the time he accidentally left his mother adrift in an old boat for several hours. His mother seemed to be far less annoyed about this than my mother would have been but I guess he's a famous director who went out with many famous women, so maybe Vadim can get away with such things.
