Summary: The annual Bug Ball is interrupted when alien bugs invade. Fortunately, it all turns out for the best when the alien bugs prove to be friendly, great dancers, and the overlooked bug gets to dance with the beautiful yellow butterfly and ultimately be crowned King of the Ball.

Critique: This book is a great example of scientific fiction because the alien bugs come to earth in spaceships in fantastical ways and the solution of the story is possible only because the alien bugs use their spaceship to write words in the sky. Characterization: The narrator of the story is a round character, but is unique in the fact that he is never named. He names all the other characters in the story, but remains personally anonymous, adding a sense of mystery to the science fiction.

This books is a good example of science fiction because it involves a more advanced species from outer space visiting Earth. It also causes readers to ponder the important question of whether or not there is life beyond our planet.
The theme of this book is to accept those who are different from yourself. The author build this theme sequentially as the plot continues. When the insects from outer space initially come, the author shows the instinct of the other bugs to run away. However, as individual bugs converse, they get to know one another. The author uses these encounters to show that by getting to know someone an individual can overcome their prejudices. Finally, when all the bugs have a dance together, the author uses it to build the idea that all people can get along, no matter how diverse.

Genre: Science Fiction. This is a good example of science fiction because while the bugs were having their bug ball, insect aliens join the party. The bugs learn about the different food and styles from outer space and the alien insects learn about life on Earth.
