An answer to humanity's search for an ideal that can be a shaping force in life.-- For Christians the true and central task is still to keep in view the crisis of human heart and to offer the power of renewal which the Christian message promises. Only when we have seen the darkness of the heart and considered the promise that light will come into it, that the power of grace and redemption will offset it, only then, I think, are we secure against the utopian dreams and can achieve the balance that will enable us to work realistically and soberly in the world and to make it a little more just, a little closer to the plan of creation. God's future is not the dream of a perfect world. This future is the situation of the father waiting to welcome the prodigal home. This son will not find his way back from abroad, and be received, by some automatic process, in dialectical reversal. It will always be the miracle of a grace for which the calculations of thought are never a match.… (más)
