A great text book tailored towards self learning. This book contains everything you need to understand Russian grammar. It is presented in a clear and concise way. There are exercises in every chapter and an answer key in the back of the book. I found that the chapters more or less line up with the Russian tree on Duolingo so you can use the book for a more thorough explanation than what Duolingo gives.

I have read through the entire book and have completed most of the exercises. Because of this I have a decent grasp of the grammar and am now focusing more on vocabulary. I will definitely be referring back to this book many times in the future whenever I need to clarify something. ( )

This is a really well organized and presented course on the Russian language. I read this book prior to attending an intensive nine month Russian language program. I found this book to have been an excellent preparation as well as a continued resource to maintain my proficiency. ( )

I think it is not a bad course. It alerted me to a number of tricky exceptions to the general rules which my previous textbook had rather glossed over (eg the irregular prepositional в Крыму, 'in the Crimea'). But I would have needed regular human lessons as well to get me through to the end, so I'm leaving it here, and switching to a quite different Indo-European language. ( )

The New Penguin Russian Course gives a very good, in-depth grammatical overview that is a wonderful addition to either classroom learning or individual language study. I use this book in combination with audio tapes to teach myself Russian, and so far it's gone pretty well. ( )

I've been working my way through it, on and off, and it's really good. Most of the limited Russian I know is from this book, and I strangely haven't forgot it, even after not having looked at it in months! ( )
