-- Working for the God of the Love of Money offered in Tales to Terrify Podcast #111 -1.5*
I wanted to read some stories by Kaaron Warren, after reading a rather unique story in Fearful Symmetries so I hunted for a few free audios/podcasts.
This story has a human collecting coins for a god. They are melted down to make armour, the older the coins the better because they have a bit of the people that touched them on them. The human is his servant and bound to him. I don't see the point of the story.
Author has said this: my story about a god who survives on the greed of others and protects himself with armour made from stolen coins, I looked at the science of melting metals and at the history of the metals in coins. Silver has a melting point of 961 celcius [1762 F], whereas copper melts at 1085 celcius [1985 F]. Given our Australian dollar coins are 92 percent copper, this helped develop the nature of my heat-loving monster. and "I wrote it in response to watching a kid asking for coins in Sydney years ago, and the way people acted towards him."
Maybe that is all it is, "a slice of life" for a demon and his servant. ( )
