This book is great at reminding children to never give up on their dreams. You should always remain determined. Luke needed to learn that and got a little help from Jackie Robinson.

This book illustrates a boy who refuses to give up his dream of playing baseball. He is discouraged throughout the book because he is not as good as Jackie Robison. He then goes to a game with his grandmother and realizes that Jackie also isn’t perfect but he still encourages him to do his best. At the end of the book, Franky decides he is never going to stop trying. This would be a great read aloud book for children because it would encourage them to do their best and to never give up. The illustrations depict the story line very well but do not depict all parts of the story so it could be difficult to follow the story with only the pictures on the page. Overall, this has been one of my favorite children’s books overall. ( )
