Carly needs to put part of her past to rest by finding out who killed her brother 20 years ago. Using her reporter’s skills she begins her search of but in so doing stirs up more than she bargained for. Devlin McAllister is a Cameron cowboy born and raised that left for a while then returned and became the sheriff. He is not happy that a supposedly solved murder that took place on his parents’ property is being stirred to life again.

With a break-in, threats, a mystery, secrets and accidents aplenty Devlin goes into lawman protector mode while Carly remains committed to her quest for information. The two are drawn to one another but know their time together is limited – or should be – due to the distance between where the two of them live.

This is a small town romance with wonderful characters in Carly and Devlin and in the town’s population. My guess is that the next book in the series will be that of Jane and Ben BUT it could be that Shea will find her match instead.
