David and Barbara have three sons and she is pregnant when he is killed in an accident. They own a harness shop and Barbara attempts to carry on the business with the help of her father. Her fourth son is born 8 months later and she has a slow recovery. Paul, a neighbor's son, returns home when his brother dies. He is working at a harness shop and does not like farming. He goes to work helping Barbara until she is able to work. Complications abound because he finds himself falling in love with Barbara. An Amish Bishop, who is 15 years older than Barbara, is a widower with 4 girls, wants to marry her. He also wants her to sell the harness shop which she loves. Read to see the outcome. Not as good as some of her books. ( )

Abstract: "Does God have a new love in mind for Barbara, or will she find herself settling into a marriage of convenience?"
  scsaglib | Jun 8, 2010 |
Barbara Zook had a perfect life: home, loving husband, children and a place by her husband's side in their harness-making business. Then, the Sheriff's car pulled onto their yard to tell her that her beloved David had been killed in a buggy accident. Barbara finds herself navigating the world of single parenthood, plus keeping the harness shop open and caring for a new baby, born after David's death. Barbara's father helps as he is able, but his advanced arthritis makes the detailed work almost impossible to do. Barbara needs to hire help, but harness making isn't a job for just anyone!
Paul Hilty, home from Pennsylvania for his brother's funeral, volunteers to help Barbara in the harness shop until she's back on her feet. Immediately, both Barbara and Paul feel the tension of feelings they cannot define. The rebellious attitude of Aaron, Barbara's oldest son, doesn't help -- but, then, neither does the unconditional love of two of her other sons. Added to this tension is the unwanted attention by the widower, Bishop John Frey, seeking a mother for his daughters.
Barbara must choose: a marriage of convenience with Bishop John or a marriage of love with Paul Hilty.
