Enjoyed Dakota in the first book and even more in this one as having a sense of humor and honor. Missed that there was not any Texas Ranger action for this one either. Reading their bibles was their answer to every problem. Glad that there was no love story until the very end. Interesting that both people were dealing with parents that were not very religious and even questioned their children about it. Good twist with the kidnapping, the ranch family being overall good people, and the person who Darvi was mistaken for being her aunt. Actually wondered if Darvi's purpose was to bring religion to Seth and end up with him. Glad to have Merry realize that she should marry the man she had been living with for years. Thought for sure the little girl, Izzy would talk by the end. ( )

You can see the linkage between the books for places and people. In this one, Dakota is a Texas Ranger who gets a second chance with God after being shot 5 times on the job. As he recovers he ends up escorting his boss's niece to see a friend. Darvi is a recent convert also but seems to be a magnet for trouble, getting kidnaped in a case of mistaken identity, it takes most of the book to get that resolved and the ending earns 4 stars because there is no happily ever after for the main couple. It clearly opens the way for the next book. ( )

This is book two in the series and although you could read it as a stand alone, it would be much better if you read book one first, so you could get some background on Dakota Rawlings. This is a story of two people who have just recently come to a saving faith in the Lord. They are growing in their walk with the Lord and at the same time, without either really being aware of it, they are growing in their relationship to each other. I appreciated so much the way the author weaved the scriptures into this story, in a very real and natural way. It was a good view of the thoughts and feelings and issues people experience when a loved one doesn't understand the decisions one makes for eternity.

Dakota is a Texas Ranger healing from a shoot-out he was involved in. While he is not on the job he offers to take his boss' niece, Darvi, to visit her close friend in another town. From there we go to Darvi being kidnapped, to Dakota rescuing her, to Darvi going back to St. Louis, to Dakota finally realizing that the feelings he has for Darvi are more than just friendship.

It was a most unusual kidnapping and there seemed to be a lot of little stories inside this one story. I am a BIG fan of Lori Wick and she did another great job. Her books just make you feel good after having read them. I am looking forward to book 3 next! ( )

Lori Wick is one of my fovorite Christian novelists. The seamless way she crafts her stories amaze me. "A Texas Sky" is no exception.

The story is set in Texas during the late 1800s and tells the way a kidnapping ends in romance. The descriptions are rich in detail and the plot kept me turning the pages. When you read this book, look for the way Lori Wick portrays the villians as deluding themselves. ( )
