Bow Street Duchess #2
Excellent addition to the series – couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to see what happens next!
What I liked:
* Audrey: Duchess of Fournier, married to her childhood friend and keeps his secret as he keeps hers, extrasensory perception of psychometry, has spent time in an asylum due to her paranormal ability, admirable, strong, intelligent, intriguing
* Hugh: principal Bow Street officer, nanny’s son, Viscount’s by-blow, scandal in his past, well-educated and eloquent, intuitive, attracted to Audrey, honorable, compassionate, a good man
* Sir: a young man from the streets befriended and employed by Hugh, savvy, a bit of light in the stories
* Basil: Hugh’s valet, a voice of reason, grounded, impeccable clothes handler
* The respect, friendship, and commitment Audrey and Philip have within their marriage – it has saved them both from a difficult alternative future
* Phillip: Duke of Fournier, brother, husband, arrested for murder and released when murderer was caught, curious about how his future will unfold
* The triangle that is developing between Audrey, Hugh, and Phillip and wondering how it will be resolved
* The plot, pacing, writing, and the way the story concluded with all mysteries and murders solveds
* That it seems true to the time and believable.
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to
* How biased, bigoted and small-minded so many of this era were and how cruel they could be to others – even their family.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the ARC – This is my honest review.
