The Dark King's Heart is the story of Niomi and Callun. Niomi is a human kidnapped by the faerie King Callun and held in his kingdom. As we get to know Niomi and Callun we are able to learn the reasons behind the kidnapping and watch as they fall in love. This is a great fantasy, the pacing is good, the characters are likeable and the romance is well written. All in all an enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book through the early reviewers program in exchange for an honest review. ( )Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Our heroine, whose sister has shown signs of having elven blood, is kidnapped from a street on Earth by dark elves and transported to another world. Her captor, the Dark King believes she has the power to restore his world, all he has to do is convince her of that (and to discover her powers). The trouble is she doesn’t trust him and thinks he is out to use her as a weapon to destroy his rivals (and her sister). After winning the initial battle (getting her to trust that his intentions are good), the battle to destroy evil is a piece of cake. Along the way they find that they have an ever-strengthening affection for each other and the final ‘turning’ of her sister to fight for good is an added bonus. A nice relaxing read, which I enjoyed. Highly recommended. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I received a free review copy from the author.
I am not generally one for romance genre. Over the last few years, however, lines have blurred so much, does genre still exist as separate categories? But this story has elves! Niomi is transported from the world she knows to Fayden and the Unseelie court. The fault for this, and all that follows, lies at the feet of her sister, Alaia. (her tale is told in a prequel). We see the court. We witness elven magic. The focus remains, however, on the relationship between Niomi and the Dark King. I enjoyed the book. A good story gives me characters and places I'd want to visit again. This is a good story 'NIOMI WOKE up more groggy than she had ever experienced in her entire life. Her head was pounding. The room was also freezing; her teeth began to chatter as she moved to pull her blanket closer to her. There was nothing else to grab. The events of her kidnapping flooded her mind, and she bolted upright.' Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I enjoyed this book! It was a short read; therefore, less time for the author to fully develop the world and magic system. At times this made the book feel rushed and a little confusing. On the flip side, it makes for an quick and fun fantasy read for someone not wanting to spend a lot of effort with world building. My brain didn't hurt trying to keep track of everything. My biggest complaint was the insta love for Niomi. Callan was portrayed well as the morally grey anti-hero and his pining for her made sense with his magical abilities sensing their bond. It seemed Niomi just changed her tune after he did one nice thing lol. Either way, I was happy to see them end up together and look forward to more adventures from them. Final thought: I would definitely continue with this series! Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I have really mixed feelings on this book. It is poorly written, in desperate need of an editor, and really rushed. It feels like it's the first draft after the author created a detailed outline. I feel like I have zero understanding of the magic system and how it works, there wasn't enough space for the characters to believably grow, and there are constant instances of things just perfectly working out for the protagonist without any real explanation about anything. However. The story itself is great. I was sucked in and read the whole book in one day because the author has a really good foundation here. It honestly just needs a lot more detail and an editor to catch the plot errors and typos and it would be fantastic. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
