You don't think of the evil people who attend events like the Expo in Seattle 1909. This continuation is a wonderful story of Eleanor who is there to work with a camera at the Expo until the event is over but loves botany. She meets a botanist also working there, who had been living in Alaska and had recently been on a ship that sank getting to Seattle. There the plot thickens and it's hard to put it down. Characters you'd like to know. Strong lessons of faith. Excellent story. I received this book free from the author, publisher and NetGalley book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. Another wonderful book from one of my favorite authors. This is the second book in the Pictures of the Heart series and I can’t wait to read the final book to see how the series ends. This book touches on revenge, mental illness, and loss. But, things are not always as they seem because what is lost can sometimes be found again. Even though Eleanore and Bill’s relationship progressed quickly, they were definitely meant for each other. I would have loved more of an epilogue to find out what happened once Eleanore and Bill’s family made it back to Alaska. Hopefully that will be touched on in the next book. This is a series I would definitely recommend. I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own. I thought the characters were kind of flat, and I just can’t get into a story where I’m not connecting. Title: Finding Us (Pictures of the Heart #2) Author: Tracie Peterson Pages: 304 Year: 2023 Publisher: Bethany House My rating: 5 out of 5 stars Finding Us is the second novel in the Pictures of the Heart series that takes place in Seattle during the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in the early 1900s. During the expo, Eleanor Bennett works as a camera girl who takes pictures of people who are attending. Eleanor is an only child who is thrilled to meet new people, take pictures, and sell cameras. While taking a walk, she comes upon a woman dressed in black holding a very small infant, and it is then that Eleanor’s heart is captured. William and Wallace Reed were traveling by ship to Seattle when disaster struck. Wallace’s wife is said to have drowned and Wallace is inconsolable. William, or Bill as he goes by, works in one of the display areas and gives tours of the Alaska exhibit. The brothers have a nemesis named Grady Masterson who is out for revenge against them for testifying during Grady’s brother’s trial. Bill spent months writing about plant life in Alaska, thought his manuscript was lost at sea, and therefore would have to start again. However, is his work truly lost at sea with his sister-in-law? Eleanor and Bill love botany, the Lord, and learning. Will these two young people find romance amidst deadly danger and pursuit by Masterson? Once again, Tracie Peterson has written a captivating and thrilling novel with characters that are easy to connect with and read about. Finding Us is the second book in the series; the first is Remember Me. Audiences will enjoy both heart-touching tales of love, loss, forgiveness, and hope from the first page until the very end. Each novel can be read as a stand-alone story; however, be aware that some characters from the first book appear in the second. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense along with the romance as Eleanor and Bill long for adventure in their lives. I hope others will read and then share the stories with family and friends alike. I highly recommend the novel and the series! I’m looking forward to the third book, Knowing You, coming in November 2023. The characters are wonderful! I found myself deeply invested in their stories. My heart ached with Wallace and then later rejoiced with him! Eleanor is fantastic! She's eager to learn new things, and she trusts her instincts. Bill is a true brother. He's an optimistic man who encourages others to embrace faith.
I love how Tracie weaves faith throughout her books. It's encourages and uplifting!
I can't wait to read the next book in this series! ( )
