The ancient religion of Northern Europe was one of remarkable strength and power, as well as magic and beauty. Its adherents were themselves a solid and adventurous lot: the Norse, Slavs, Germans, ancient Russians, and of course, the Vikings. The Rites of Odin is a complete sourcebook that brings the ancient values back to these turbulent times. What you read here is poetic and powerful, perfect for groups who have chose to follow the Old Ways, for families who wish to be unified by warm and close ceremonies, and for the solitary seeker. Known as the place to begin when looking into the Asatru religion this book is highly full of ritual and not su much on lore. If you are looking for a book on runes - this is not it, this is strictly an Asatru version of a catacism and is mostly consists of rituals for the full kindred, however there are a few ideas of how to do rituals for the solitary practicioner. To the folk of the immigrant community where I grew up, who taught me that together we could work hard, keep each other honest, improve our places in life, and stand against the world.
To the good people of Caer Calliech, who taught me that a tight-knit group of friends can be far closer than one's own blood kin, and can indeed accomplish miracles.
To my children, who taught me to understand the heights and the depths of love.
