This is the 20th of Mary Daheim books that I have read. This one believe I enjoyed more than any of the other ones. As with many of the books I read by a favorite author - there are ongoing characters and relationships in her books. Seeing the changes, growth, and general happenings are, for me, many times better than the mystery. In this case it was a tie for the story and the characters You may note that I have not told the story or really referred to it. Emma Lord has her life turned upside down with this mystery and the surprises it brings to her and the town of Alpine. ENJOY!! (
