Fiction. Mystery. HTML:When seasonal mischief turns deadly, bookstore owner Annie Darling and her husband, Max, must again close the book on a killer, in this delightful new whodunit from the Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity Award–winning author.

Reading about deadly doings remains as popular a pastime as ever for citizens of stormy Broward’s Rock. Now, with spring newly sprung, Annie Darling has conceived of an ingenious promotional scheme: offering a free book to anyone who can solve a series of clues from popular whodunits. Annie and hubby Max pass out their flyers all over town. But an April Fool prankster is distributing a counterfeit flyer–complete with not-so-vague accusations of murder.

Suddenly the Darling name is mud, thanks to the vicious slanders of an unknown counterfeiter. And Annie knows that she herself is going to have to do the bulk of the sleuthing. Then, just as things couldn’t seem to get any worse, they do. In the wink of a bloodshot eye, Annie’s hunt for a malicious trickster has become a desperate search for a killer. Because now more than her reputation is at stake. If she can’t rid her idyllic isle of a secret slayer, the malefactor’s next murderous “joke” may be on her!.

Like an April Fool’s Day prank that falls flat, this was underwhelming. ( )

I enjoyed this one more than the Death of the Party. Annie is hosting a Whodunit book signing for author Emma Clyde. However, someone else has made fliers that resemble hers that point suspicious fingers at various residents of the island. Annie and Max set out to find who has done this. Dead bodies begin appearing and something more sinister is afoot. ( )

Annie Darling is holding a book signing for local author Emma Clyde. Someone copies the flyers Annie is using to promote the book sgining and uses the fake flyers to accuse locals of crimes. Annie decides to find the culprit and clear her name. A good entry in the series without too many random mystery writers being dropped into the story. I did find the ending abrupt and not very suspensful. ( )

The early-morning sun slanted through the pines, throwing huge shadows across the dusty gray road. Bob Tower's face wa flushed, his heartbeat elevated.. He was suffused with runner's euphoria, his arms swinging easily, is stride long, his shoes thudding rhythmically on the soft dirt. He smiled, at peace with the world. When his run was over, Jessie waited for him, eager and loving. The kids would be off to school. God, what a wonderful---
