This is a wonderful book, the first in the Chadwick Family trilogy. It begins with some frightened children who have suffered a terrible tragedy, then follows their lives and growing relationships with their relatives.

Well-written, nicely plotted, and there are some very moving moments. This book inspired me to find not just the sequels but pretty much everything else Marcia Willett has written, and I've just read it for the third time - and enjoyed it thoroughly once more.

Very highly recommended to anyone who appreciates women's fiction. Suitable for all; there's no bad language, and only hints of intimacies. Love is shown as having many different expressions.
