Good and entertaining read

This book was light and fun. I enjoyed reading it and appreciated the length of the book. It was a neat take on how a corporate company was founded. I wasn't sure if the book was fictional or based on a true story. I would recommend it though and read it again. ( )

I enjoyed reading Secrets from the Mountaintop. It reads like a YA historical fiction book. It tells the story of how John Pemberton took advantage of a Peruvian family while building the Coca-Cola brand. The book is set in the late 1800's yet echos of cultural and economic inequalities that exist to this day. The main character Lucila which means light, truly lite the way throughout this book. Lucila is a strong character that displayed both grace and grit in difficult situations, also reminding the reader, that children have innately keen instincts and intelligence, this book made me very curious about what actually happened and inspired me to do further research. The illustrations were not only lovely but helped tell the story. If I were a middle school teacher, I'd love to have this added to a reading list. Thank you for sharing your story. ( )

I enjoyed learning about the discovery of Coca-Cola through the eyes of a young girl. I did, however, feel like there wasn't enough closure at the end. I would have liked a bit more information to wrap up her journey. ( )
