Imagine cyborg insectoids a thousand times larger than Earth insects engaged in an interplanetary struggle for power. Generations after cyborg insects return to their revitalized planet, a draconian red ANT ruler takes over the colony exterminating other insectoids and enslaving brown and black ANTs by genetic and social engineering. The queen BEE on the planet s moon must rely on two tiny ants, Rose and Jasper, raised amongst their enemy, to infiltrate the Antalone cyborg elites. They must dismantle a dystopian regime that uses histrionics, bionics, and socionics to subjugate its populace. An allegorical Brave New World that is out of this world, where the fate of the Antunites depends on chameleon ANT spies who plot a revolution to unshackle their kin. Can Rose and Jasper accomplish what no ANTs have before them?… (más)

I did not read the other books in the series so maybe I’d have enjoyed this book more if I had. It feels like it was written by a 12-year old with a penchant for insect puns. Or at least that is the target audience. There’s lots of good insect knowledge scattered throughout. Dialogue is a bit dry and repetitive. The plot felt painfully slow. Character development wasn’t great but that could be my fault for not reading the other books in the series. I liked what he did with the red/black ant segregation.
Overall, probably a fun read for the budding etymologist. ( )

I got this as an early review and it's a creepy sci fi book. Very good read,

I continue to enjoy the ANTUNITE CHRONICLES through every installment. Terry Birdgenaw has created a truly fascinating dystopian world that is well fleshed out and will appeal to young adult sci fi readers. In this third book, Antunites Unite, we’re years after the environmental disaster that ravaged Poo-ponic. Two ants, Rose and Jasper are being sent as spies by one of the bee queens to destroy an evil racist caste system where red ants are elite, and brown and black ants are inferior, as well as other insects. There are many parallels to modern and historical issues presented in the series through insect eyes, and you’re left wondering what their fate (and ours) will ultimately be. I am continually impressed by the world-building in this series. Birdgenaw has used “method acting” if you will to really get in the head of an ant. They don’t use days, they use hexays. They communicate with pheromones. All the little things you wouldn’t think of have been meticulously thought out and crafted in this bug world and that makes it a treat to read! 5/5 stars. ( )

Set generations after the end of the apocalyptic second book; book three gives planet Poo'ponic a second chance and a new name, Antalonia. A world where ANTs rule and other insectoids are extinct, and not by natural evolution. The red ants are stronger and ruthlessly use histrionics, bionics, and socionics to control and enslave black and brown ants. Where can this lead? Can Chameleon ant spies from Bilaluna, the neighboring moon, infiltrate the upper echelons of Anlatonia and start a revolution? Grab a copy of this fascinating and exciting conclusion of The Rise and Fall of Antocracy! ( )
