You possess the ability to tap a bottomless well of physical and psychic energy (called "chi" in Chinese). With it you can harness the magickal power of the universe. How do you do it? By learning the ancient Chinese art of breath, posture, and sensory awareness as explained in Chi Gung by L. V. Carnie. As you learn this system to direct your flow of chi, you will be able to achieve ultimate health and things you have only dreamed of: Look and feel younger Add healthy years to your life Progress faster in martial arts training Develop different types of psychic ability: heal at a distance, talk with spirits, move objects with your mind Increase your fitness level Help damaged tissue heal more quickly Improve sexual performance Learn to control your body temperature Bond with your pets or with animals in the wild   Chi Gung is filled with simple but effective exercises for mind, body, and spirit that will open your flow of chi as they open you to a whole new world of possibilities. No other chi gung self help book covers such a broad range of material or presents the actual training techniques for mastering the more advanced skills. The exercises include simple stretches and slow movements with creative visualization and breathwork. One technique that is fully explained is called the small circulation, or the microcosmic cycle. It will teach you to circulate your chi around your body and head without having it enter your arms or legs. Another technique, the grand circulation or heavenly cycle, teaches you to move chi throughout your entire body. It's not difficult, and you can do it no matter your current level of health or fitness. The powerful techniques here can be used alone or within any spiritual or magical system. Add them to what you are doing today!… (más)

I've been interested in Chi Gung since I learned about Zhan Zhuang meditation (commonly called"standing like a tree") to help me deal with stress when my work gets tough. Lily-of-the-Valley's book was one of the first I picked up when I wanted to learn more about Chi Gung (which I found out is also known as QiGong or Chi Kung) and it was really helpful for me.

Her book is a wonderful guide to the practice of Chi Gung providing many great exercises that help you develop an awareness of Chi. Many of her experiences and practice techniques remind me of the rejuvenation I feel when I go on walks in the fields around my house at night to clear my mind and reconnect with nature. Check it out and see if it can be helpful for you. ( )

This is an great guide to the art of Chi Gung. I like reading about Eastern & Vedic Healing practices and Lily Carnie's book has raised my appreciation of this form of Chinese Energy work. Her section on the various styles of Chi Gung breathing have provided more depth to my knowledge of Yogic breathing and I found her descriptions of technique to be vivid and helpful. For example, "Imagine you are inhaling a delicate silk thread and if you breathe too harshly, quickly, or spasmodically, it will break" and with exercises like "The Cormorant Spreads His Wings" and "The Beautiful Flower Opens and Closes Her Petals" she beautifully conveys the poetry of the practice. I love it when you find a book that does a great job at being both instructive and pleasing to read. ( )

Lily Carnie – has devoted her life to the study and practice of QiCong. A different book on QiCong, in this understanding it is a beginning of another perception of life. Nothing of the traditional exercises is altered, and still a big part of the book is dedicated to various exercises to spread QiCong state in other systems and moments. All the tricks to increase the intensity of being (touch, smell, mental exercises, learning from other being and objects, some wizardry).A variety of exercises that can open the flow of Qi as well as training techniques for achiving the advances skills.

Chi Gung by Lily of the Valley Carnie, is a superb book that has clear instructions, helpful illustrations and pictures (especially of the meridians), and a fresh, new perspective on the subject. She is not bound by restrictive ideas or that there is only one correct way to do anything. Instead she encourages readers to explore and experience Chi for themselves by providing a wide variety of examples for training. This allows you to play with different ways to increase your awareness of the energy within and around you body so that you can learn to feel it for yourself. It opens up a new way of looking at everything around you.

In addition, Ms. Carnie shows you ways to use your energy to improve yourself. You are encouraged to go beyond her exercises to apply Chi Gung to whatever activity you are engaged in, making your practice of Chi Gung an expression of you and your art. Whatever that may be. ( )

Lily of the Valley Carnie's book is an excellent way to learn more about chi, the life energy that flows through the universe. She teaches in a way that is informative but most importantly - fun! In an easy-to-read, almost conversational fashion, she explains how to incorporate chi awareness into your day-to-day activities...everything from reading a book to flying a kite. What I found most delightful is that it is organized so that once you've covered the basics in the introductory section, you can literally open the book to any page and have a self-contained lesson on chi applied to a specific topic ( like healing or enhancing your sense of smell or training with colors or even fly-fishing ). I highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring this ancient art. ( )
