I did become obsessed with cycads for a short time after reading this book... ( ) At first it had to do with some forms of diseases, but it was more of a book about islander vegetation rather than a medical voyage book... I mainly got disappointed, because it was nothing like I expected based on the title and the previously read books from Oliver. The only pages that were truly interesting are the first hundred and maybe some more. I didn't read the notes in the ending of the book, they are around a hundred more pages and I didn't think I could survive this right now. Probably if I reread it in the future for some reason I now have a hard time to think of, I might read that last complementary part as well. I always enjoyed his articles in The New Yorker, but this the first book by Sacks that I have read. It's a fascinating look at and reflection upon rare and isolated disorders and diseases,as one would expect from the author. It is also, however,a botanical story that makes one take in the scale of geologic time and marvel at the methods of evolution. > Babelio : https://www.babelio.com/livres/Sacks-Lile-en-noir-et-blanc/232932 > BAnQ (Boulanger N., Québec science, 1998, Mars) : https://collections.banq.qc.ca/ark:/52327/2874229 > PSYCHOLOGIE .
