These are a collection of seven one-act plays with the pull of the sea as a theme, several with the same characters. "Where the Cross is Made" is the weakest, but the rest of the plays are tragic and compelling morality plays about the conflicting forces of the ocean's pull on some men and their desire for the joys and comforts of a normal life with a family and home.
