This book is an excellent twist on the story of Cinderella that gives you a twisted take on the story! Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Cinderella was the bully instead of the victim? This book does a wonderful job at telling that story!Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Retelling the fairy tale, is done in a good manner in this book. With a good plot and well intended twists, adventures. The author has done a good job. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. The ugly stepsister is the second part in a series of reimagined fairy tales and this one is much more fun than part one, Second star to the left which I also read and reviewed. This one is about Cinderella or rather about Anna, the ugly stepsister. Only Anna knows the truth about Cinderella: The pauper turned queen wasn't the victim, but the bully. Anna has run away and tries to save her mother and sister. Dressed as a boy, she meets Will who has also escaped the magic surrounding the queen. They try to find the fairy godmother's workhouse and to destroy the magic that she has to save the country. They have the help of brothers Brandt and Koen and their sister Mina. They are trying to save their brothers. Without giving the plot away, I guessed it early in the book and it was revealed at chapter 27. Nice, fun to read and a very nice and adult retelling of a fairy tale. Disclaimer: I got this book in the Librarything Early Reviewers. I received this book as an early copy from LibraryThing in exchange for a review. That said, this is the second book in the series of re-written fairy tales by Megan Van Dyke. As other reviewers have said, this is a mish-mosh of Cinderella and Snow White. What one doesn't expect is that the evil sister in the story is actually "cinder" Ella. The book overall was pretty good, even though I felt rather cloudy headed at times, with the characters of Cinderella & Snow White being combined. My absolute favorite part of the story was when Anna got the dress - I don't want to give a spoiler other than that! :) Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Really clever, enjoyed this a lot. It is nominally 2nd in a series, but the first was a Peter Pan riff, and this is a completely different Fairy Tale, obviously Cinderella, but with many others thrown in, especially Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. We all know Cinderella, and how the poor daughter was picked on by her nasty step-mum and terrible step-sisters until the wonderful prince swept her away to live happily ever after. All Lies. Ella was the evil one, picking on her siblings, and she stole the Prince from under Anna's nose. Now the whole country is enslaved to her whim and her magical compulsions, apart from Anna and a few staunch rebels that she meets. One of whom is the daringly attractive Will, but with Anna disguised as a man, she can't let her feelings show. A little bit overly romantic (and graphical) for me in places, but good fun throughout, enjoy picking out the various other Fairy Tale devices as they enter the story. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Only Anna knows the truth about Cinderella: The pauper turned queen wasn't the victim, but the bully. Anna fled when the castle guards came to arrest her mother and sister on Cinderella's orders. But leaving them in bondage at the Fairy Godmother's workhouse? Out of the question. Disguised as a young man and taking the name of Ansel, she'll do whatever it takes to free her family and set the record straight. Will, a former royal huntsman, was nearly killed for dissenting Cinderella's rise as queen in the wake of the sudden death of the king and his son. He hatches a plan to take Cinderella down, and encounters Ansel, who wants revenge just as much as he does. Drawn together by a common goal and burgeoning feelings neither can ignore, Will and Ansel enact a plan to assassinate the queen. But when that goes awry and buried secrets come to light, they'll have to choose: continue running from their pasts or accept themselves in order to forge a new future together.
