I was hoping for a little more. A little more substance about the women and a little more about botany.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Like the other books in this series, Women in Botany, introduces young readers to the field of botany and the women scientist who contributed to the field of science. The book includes people of color, including a Native American/Indigenous person who helped to make breakthroughs in the field. The text is intriguing and can help younger readers understand science and scientific thinking more. The illustrations reinforce the text. I can see this book in an elementary science classroom and on a shelf in a school library waiting for young readers to discover it. It is also a great jumping off point for readers who want to explore the women featured more. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Since we just had our first daughter, I was so excited to get an early reviewers copy of this book. Not only does this book do a great job of spanning the history of women in botany, encouraging girls to be scientists, but it does a fantastic job of highlighting the contributions of women of the color to the field as well.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This was a very well-organized book, and I learned about so many new woman botanists. I liked how the author gave information about plants, then tied it to a woman who did something spectacular! This is a great add to any library as a way to showcase diverse scientists!*I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.* Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Fantastic! This book belongs to Series Science Wide Open (6) and is truly exceptional. What is botany and why is it important? Is there anything worth studying? Who has discovered anything important? Weren't they all men? Did they come from any special country? Is there something that I would like to do? What do these words mean? Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or public library! The illustrations by Danielle Pioli are delightful, imaginative, and colorful. I won a print copy in a LibraryThing Giveaway Offered by Science, Naturally!
