I loved being back in China! Perfectly Placed picks right back up where Perfectly Arranged left off and Nicki is back in town and ready to get the New Hope orphanage organized! Learning even more about Chinese culture was such a treat, especially seeing how families celebrate Chinese New Year as well as how Christians are able to worship.

The Chinese Proverbs that start each chapter are such a nice touch, as they give a clue as to what is coming. This novel tackles some deep topics, while also unpacking a huge mystery, so having those little wisdom nuggets also help you guess on what’s coming next. This story is quite the rollercoaster, ebbing and flowing, going from good, to bad, to catastrophic as it twists and turns through some pretty rough terrain. There were moments I caught myself audibly growling, feeling the darkness from one particular character, and other moments I would sigh with hope. Perfectly Placed truly has all the feels!

Ben is the ultimate knight in shining armor, and Julia is truly an angel, both characters gleaming brilliantly in this story as their faith is repeatedly exemplified, both giving strength to Nicki as she fights for her job and for what she feels the Lord is putting on her heart to do. With their support Nicki grows deeper in her faith, and in turn becomes fearless in her pursuit for justice, the truth, and her heart.

One random thing that I loved bearing witness to was seeing Nicki not only speak her prayers, but also write them. I too write a lot of my prayers and very rarely see that in Christian novels, which was quite refreshing for me. I love that the faith aspect feels organic and doesn’t feel forced at all and especially loved the story of the Red Thread, both the story itself, and how it ties into this story seamlessly.

I devoured Perfectly Placed even quicker than I did the first book in the series, and feel even deeper in love with this story and these characters. It has such a genuine feel and is so full of heart it’s contagious. I seriously cannot wait to read the next installment, but I will have to impatiently wait. One thing I know for sure is that it'll be worth the wait as this series just gets better and better!

Perfectly Placed creates the perfect mixture of faith, orphans, and Godly people trying to do the right thing. Nicki Mayfield, six weeks after leaving China, finds herself back in China trying to complete tasks at the New Hope Orphanage in order to save its funding and reconnect with a little girl who stole her heart. The director of the orphanage suffers an injury which causes Nicki to deal with the Assistant Director. The assistant seems determined to see Nicki fail.

I loved watching how the faith of various individuals in this story illustrates how God sometimes puts people in our paths to help us along His way in our lives. Also, this book shows how sometimes we desire answers immediately and in our preconceived ways, while God’s timing and ways differ.

As various facts came to light in this story, I found myself unable to put it down. So if you enjoy stories about orphans, faith, and God’s power and love, check out this book for yourself.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. ( )

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I really had fun reading Perfectly Placed, book 2 in The Hopeful Heart Series. I read book one, Perfectly Arranged when it released and I fell in love with Nicki and New Hope Orphanage. I could not wait to read this one and it did not disappoint! When Nicki returns to China to restore order at New Hope Orphanage and re-connect with the little girl who stole her heart, things were not what she expected. With everything in an uproar, Nicki had more than she bargains for.

With characters to bring the story to life, Nicki has challenges and twists and turns that were difficult for her to figure out. At time I felt like it was there alongside Nicki and the other characters trying to help them. Author Liana George, does a fabulous job writing this book. I think her writing style is phenomenal, and I can’t wait for the next book. I love the details of China, and I think the fact that Liana George has lived in China gives her the perfect insite to explain each scene with such details. I also like that faith runs through the lives of the characters so well. If you love organizing or you need help with it, this book has a lot of tips that may help you, after all Nicki is a great organizer . I sure need this part of the book. I encourage you to pick up a copy of this book and read it. I think you will find you love it!

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255. ( )

I love being able to travel to other places without leaving my home. The author does a great job of making me feel like I was in China as she described the cuisine and laws that some may find hard to accept. There has been news stories about orphanages in China and the need for funds and workers. I was very captivated by our main character because of her heart for children.

Nicki has a big task ahead of her as she returns to New Hope Orphanage. Waiting for her is a job of organizing papers, offices and trying to find out where the money is disappearing to. She is not well received by the Assistant Director and it was hard to like this character. She was brash, power hungry and disrespectful. I had a feeling that I knew someone was hiding something but the question is why?

Nicki does have some setbacks that cause her to question why she is there. I can’t imagine being arrested in a foreign country and feeling hopeless. Within the pages of the story are several lessons we can all learn from. I was shaking to my core when one character was so crass when mocking Nicki and her beliefs. There was a mention of “just throw up a few prayers,” like it was useless anyway. What struck me about this character was how deceitful she was in order to better her child’s life. She had no regard for the children she was suppose to be watching over. It is the scripture, “the love of money is the root of all evil,” that runs rampant in this persons heart.

With everything that Nicki is facing she ponders “what it would like to simply trust in God’s provision.” We face situations everyday where we wonder how we will pay a bill, or will our loved one be healed. What we forget to do is pray and be faithful to His Word. We don’t know the plans He has for us but as he unveils them to us we need to listen and follow His direction. Will you obey God when He shows you where you are to be “perfectly placed?”

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. ( )
