Neat idea - you'll have to check it out to see what I mean though when I say that I'm not happy that gray and black were not reinforced the same way the others were, but were abandoned. And purple and white were left out all together. If I had a nursery I would create my own physical 'game' based on this conceit, and I would find objects to reinforce *all* the principal colors. ( )

Summary: Wordless picture book about color. Each page contains four color photographs of objects a specific color. Objects are common items young children will recognize.

Reflection: Bright vivid photographs of colorful objects are a fun way to teach children about color. ( )

Very young children will enjoy this book as they build vocabulary provided by older guides; it can be used many times with different purposes. Even older children would enjoy creating their own version of the book ,either with photographs or drawings. It could also be used to practice adjectives, as a source of writing prompts, etc.

This is a cool, simple book that contains photograph's of "things" that are grouped into different "color" themes. Each page is divided into quarters, and has a color theme. For instance, the red theme, has photograph's of four items such as a pencil, a red apple, a bicycle, and then one picture that has other items of other colors, but then also one red item (this 4th pictures accents the others). The photographs of the items are simple yet artistic. Promotes a discussion of colors and items, and the simplicity of the the world around us.

What an amazing book. Hoban's Of Colors and Things is a great way to teach visual perception. Readers look at a page with four different colorful pictures. Three pictures are the same color and one is different. The student decides which picture is different.

The colorful images will attract young readers every time. The book will provide a learning opportunity as well. ( )
