"Pongo" (the Dalmatian dog narrator) decides that what he and owner Roger Radcliff need is some attractive female companionship, and engineers an encounter with Anita and her Dalmatian Perdito. The two couples hit it off, and tie their futures together; in fact, Perdita has 15 Dalmatian puppies. However, the villainous Cruella de Vil has her henchmen kidnap the pups. When Perdita, Pongo, and their dog and cat friends go to rescue the puppies, they find scores of other Dalmation puppies that have likewise been kidnapped by Cruella. They lead them to freedom under hot pursuit, and the dogs have to camouflage themselves by rolling in coal dust -- making them look like a pack of Labradors. In the fast- paced escape, Cruella comes to a bad end; and they make their way back home. Once the coal dust is removed, they are united with Roger and Anita, who are amazed to find they are now living with 101 of their favorite breed.
This book is well illustrated, and presented in a large format. It's a good choice for children of a certain age ( )
