Liz Tuckwell's Moonsleep and Other Stories are the perfect bedtime tales to wind down with after a long day. Some of the stories are re-imagined classics while others are hauntingly creative. If you like the idea of monsters on cruises, ham sandwiches to travel through time for, introverted unicorns, dead mermaids, and more then might I suggest you to buy a companion dream dictionary. Sleep well... ( )Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This is a collection of fifteen short stories. For the most part they are retellings of fairy tales, although with a darker spin. I enjoyed them for the most part, although I found a couple rather silly (The Temptation of Charlotte Brontë and The Perfect Ham Sandwich) but for the most part I enjoyed them. Three stars. No compensation was received other than the chance to read this work. This set of short stories has different takes and versions of various fairy tales, myths, Jane Eyre, and in one story's instance it appears to be a nod to the Rivers of London series (although that may not have been intentional). A darker view predominates each of the stories, and while it doesn't appear to be true horror, it does give an overall feel that one would expect from bloody retellings of these stories. Recommended for: those looking for something different to read in October leading up to Halloween, those who enjoy short stories, and those who enjoy the works of Gregory Maguire. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. The author describes this genre as 'quirky horror' and I'd say that fits these stories to a T. I whizzed through this book (and I'm a fast reader) and found it hard to put down. Each story was a unique blend of classic horror tropes and elements of fairy tales, mystique, and magic. Some stories stood out more than others, but each one was a page turner for the plot if not for the writing. I'm eager to see more from this author! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
